In the spring in Georgia we experience cool nights and warm days. Along with these temperature differences, we will experience evaporation in our swimming pools. Evaporation drops the water level on swimming pools and makes some homeowners believe they have a leak in their pool. The homeowners add water to bring their pool back up to the correct water level then the very next day the water level is down again. Montego Pools gets numerous service calls this time of year for leak detection.

When summer comes to an end, most people think it’s best to cover their pool when, in fact, it’s more economical to leave the pool open year round. Leaves only fall for 5-6 weeks, and when they are done falling, you don’t have to run your equipment or balance your water chemistry, the water is too cold for algae to grow.

We are in the infamous southern pollen season! We see it on our cars and feel in it our eyes. Pollen is a microscopic round or oval grain that comes from our trees and flowers. It makes our pool’s water and waterline appear dingy. As pollen falls and lands on your pool water, it appears that your pool isn’t circulating. If your equipment is indeed running, the skimmers and returns are working correctly. The water circulation just can’t work as fast as the the pollen is hitting the water.

I do triathlons which require a great deal of training in three sports. Running and biking allow me to run out the door get my training session done in an hour and I am done. Although Patrice and I have a nice size pool in our backyard, it is not long enough for my training swims. Constantly having to do flip turns annoys me. So to do my swim workouts I have to drive to the pool, change into my suit, do my workout, shower and drive home which adds a precious hour that often I just don’t have.
